How the Three Route Types Work

Route names describe the primary path used between local access and the target exit. They are not simple quality grades, nor do they guarantee identical performance across all network conditions. Consider the entry network, target service location, connection duration and use case together when choosing a route.

IEPL IEPL Private Line

Dedicated Path and Cross-Border Relay

IEPL private lines focus on how the path is organized between the entry point and international exit. After access, traffic follows a predefined relay path before reaching international services from the target region. Compared with ordinary public-internet direct routes, this makes cross-border routing easier to control and suits continuous transfers, online meetings, remote collaboration, long-form streaming and work that requires a consistent connection.

Dedicated routes usually cost more than ordinary public-internet paths, so they are best reserved for important tasks rather than carrying all traffic through one route. Large file updates, background sync and browsing tasks without strict regional requirements can use other available routes in the client, reducing unnecessary use of higher-cost paths.

RELAY Relay Route

Optimized Entry and Regional Exit Pairing

A relay route first connects to an entry point that is easier to reach, then forwards traffic to the target country or region. Its key benefit is separating local access from the international exit: the entry receives the connection, the relay handles cross-region transmission and the exit connects to the target website. This provides an alternative path when the destination is far away or direct routing changes frequently.

The real-world experience of a relay route depends on whether the entry suits the current network and whether the post-relay exit is close to the target service. If a page opens but sign-in is slow, video starts normally but later buffers, or a developer tool repeatedly fails during its handshake, keep the destination region unchanged and try another relay entry in that region. This helps identify whether the issue lies at the entry or the exit.

DIRECT Direct Route

Direct Public-Internet Path to the Exit

A direct route does not add a dedicated relay segment. The local network connects to the target-region exit over public internet routing. The path is more direct and usually costs less than routes with dedicated relays. For nearby regions with stable routing, direct routes suit everyday browsing, research, software updates and tasks with a clear regional requirement that do not need a long-lived session.

Direct does not always mean faster. Cross-border public-internet routing can vary by access provider, location and network conditions. If a direct route takes too long to connect or drops during a session, compare it with a relay route in the same region rather than repeatedly reconnecting to the same exit. The comparison can show whether the target service changed temporarily or the current public route is unsuitable.

First identify the target service’s region, then choose a route type and validate it with the actual task. Do not rely on the country name alone or stay on one route indefinitely while ignoring changes in the service and local network.

For everyday access to international websites, start with an exit that is geographically closer. Page loads involve DNS resolution, connection setup and requests for multiple static resources, so a shorter path often helps complete these short connections quickly. If a site requires a specific account region, use the region associated with the account and avoid frequent switching between distant exits.

Start with an Asia-Pacific relay or direct route. If the main page loads but images, attachments or sign-in components fail, try another route type in the same region. Keeping the region unchanged narrows the troubleshooting scope and avoids creating too many changes in the account environment over a short period.

STREAM

Streaming and Media Access

For streaming, check the content region first and whether the route can sustain transmission second. After choosing an exit that matches the content library, open the platform homepage to confirm the region and account status before playing. If the homepage works but playback buffers frequently, switch within the same region from direct to relay or IEPL instead of changing countries immediately.

Streaming platforms can change regional detection and content policies, so the support status in the route table is for route selection only and does not promise long-term access to any particular title. If the client includes a dedicated streaming note, prefer the indicated route and avoid repeatedly changing exits during playback.

AI

AI Tools and Development Environments

AI web apps, code-editor extensions and API calls have different network requirements. Web apps typically involve sign-in, session persistence and streaming output; editor extensions are also affected by local proxy settings; command-line and continuous-integration environments require confirmation that the relevant process is actually using the specified network path. Keep the exit region stable when choosing a route.

For long-form generation or sustained conversations, start with a relay or IEPL private line. If sign-in works but generation is interrupted, check whether the route changed during the session, then retest with another entry in the same region. When developer tools have connection issues, test the browser, terminal and editor separately to avoid mistaking an application configuration issue for a route problem.

GAME

Gaming and Interactive Connections

For gaming, choose an exit based on the game server’s region. Login, matchmaking and live gameplay may use different services, so a successful login alone does not validate the entire connection. Before starting an interactive session, stop large background sync tasks and keep the route stable; avoid switching regions mid-session.

Start with a direct or relay route near the game service region. If login works but interaction is unstable, compare another route type in the same region. 3MVPN does not display static latency or load figures because these metrics change with local access, the target service and current routing; the actual connection result is a more useful basis for evaluation.

WORK

Remote Work and Online Meetings

Remote work often combines document collaboration, instant messaging, video meetings and file synchronization. Choose a route based on the task that needs the most continuous connection rather than whether ordinary webpages open. Before a meeting, connect to the target-region route and complete account, microphone and camera checks; keep the exit unchanged during the meeting.

For enterprise consoles, cloud development environments or long-running remote sessions, prefer a stable relay or IEPL private line. If a company service is region-restricted, use an exit consistent with the work environment. Schedule file synchronization outside meetings to avoid multiple sustained transfers competing for the current route.

Route Switching and Troubleshooting

Multiple routes provide alternative paths. Effective troubleshooting requires changing one condition at a time and recording which step restores normal operation. Switching several countries, apps and networks in succession makes results impossible to compare.

Keep the Target Region Fixed

First determine the exit region from the website, streaming content, AI account or work system. During troubleshooting, keep the country or region unchanged and switch only between route types within that region. This separates regional-detection issues from path issues.

Re-establish the Session

After switching routes, disconnect the original connection, reconnect and reopen the target app. Existing browser sessions, cached regional information or background persistent connections may continue using the state from before the switch.

Test Applications Separately

A browser being able to connect does not mean the terminal, editor or another app is using the same network configuration. Test sign-in, content loading and sustained connections app by app, and check the app’s own proxy settings when necessary.

The country count indicates regional breadth, while the route count includes different cities, entry points and path types within the same country. Route counts should not be read as one fixed exit per country or converted directly into access speed.

Different devices can use different regions based on their purpose, but when the same account accesses region-sensitive services, keeping a consistent regular exit is recommended. For plan changes, monthly subscription traffic resets each month on the activation date, and mid-cycle upgrades are prorated by the remaining days; data packages remain available until used and never expire.
